The Importance of Choosing the Best Days to Go to Cedar Point in 2023
Cedar Point offers a variety of rides, roller coasters, and attractions that appeal to riders of all ages.
The park, however, is not the same every day. It is constantly changing due to the number of guests that visit this Ohio destination.
So, when deciding the best day to visit Cedar Point, there are many things to consider. First, you’ll need to think about the weather.
Is it going to be too hot? Too cold? Is it going to rain?
Because the park is located in Sandusky, Ohio, you can expect that it will be cooler than other parts of the United States during the summer, but it still does get extremely hot on some days.
You’ll also want to consider the crowds. Is it going to be a busy weekend? A busy week? Is it a holiday weekend?
What is a Cedar Point Crowd Calendar?
The 2023 Cedar Point Crowd Calendar gives insight into what the park is like on different days.
This calendar is vital for riders who want to visit the park at the best times possible, since it helps you figure out what days have the heaviest crowd level based on the data from previous years.
With popular roller coasters such Steel Vengeance and Millennium Force having wait times that can reach an hour long during the summer season, it’s important to know how to use this theme park tool when picking your dates.
How Does the Cedar Point Crowd Calendar Work?
The Cedar Point Crowd Calendar works by giving you the exact days you should select and what each day will be like (based on crowd level) by showing how busy the park will be in regards to theme park attendance.

- Red indicating high crowd levels

7 Best Tips to Avoid the Cedar Point Crowds
Now that we have the basics covered, let’s go through a few of the top tips when it comes to planning out your trip.
1. Check the Crowd Calendar
Crowd calendars are a great tool for planning your day and avoiding the high Cedar Point ride wait times.
This calendar is updated daily and will give you an idea of when to visit and what to expect.
It will also give you an idea of just how busy Cedar Point is AND if you should purchase a Fastlane Pass in order to skip the lines on your trip.
2. Check the Weather, Holidays, School Day Closures, and Events
Once you have come up with your perfect date to visit, be sure to check the weather and any school closures. These can also impact the amount of people in the park.
Holidays and special events can also impact the crowd level at the park such as 4th of July weekend, Memorial Day weekend, Labor Day weekend and the Halloweekends event.

3. Go in the Morning
If you want to get the most out your trip, you’ll want to go in the morning.
This will ensure that you will get to enjoy all of the rides and attractions that you want to see before the park starts to get crowded.
Hipster Power Tip: Cedar Point peak hours are between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., so try to go on off peak hours if you can.
4. Look at the Fastlane Calendar
This is one of my favorite tips when trying to figure out if it’s going to be a busy day at Cedar Point.
When the park thinks that it’s going to be a large crowd, the price for the Fastlane Pass increases significantly in contrast to when a lower crowd is expected.
Check out the images below to see the difference.
5. Splurge on a Fastlane Pass…if you can
With the information given in the previous tip, you’ll now know if it you should purchase the Fastlane Pass. If you’re going on an extremely busy day and you have the extra budget for it, then I say get it.
The average wait times at Cedar Point on peak days can be long and if this is your only visit, you’ll want to have this pass to skip the lines.
6. Ride During Lunchtime
Since most families stop to eat during the peak lunch hours, this your chance to circle back to that ride that may have had a higher wait time earlier during the day such as Maverick or Top Thrill Dragster (currently closed).
CheapOair also offers a FREE rewards program that allow you to get up to 20% off flights and up to 55% off hotels.
7. Have a Plan
Having a plan will ensure that you will have all the time in the world to do the things that you want to do.
I recommend coming up with an itinerary for Cedar Point that will help you see as much as possible in just one day.
