Why is the Disney Genie+ Service Important for Your Trip?
Since replacing the older FastPass system, Disney’s Genie+ reservation system is the only way to “skip the line” and save time in the theme parks.
All you need to do is download the My Disney Experience App, purchase the Genie+ for your party on the day you want to use it.
Plus, you’ll be set to select the rides and shows you want to skip the lines for!
The price for the service varies depending on the day but is typically around $25-$30 per person.
For the most part, you can select one ride at a time by reserving a 1-hour window (i.e., 10:00 to 11:00) to arrive, enter the so-called “Lightning Lane,” and ride with little to no wait!

1. Haunted Mansion
I’ve always enjoyed the ride, but I could never quite ride it alone (no surprise there).
This dark ride puts you in the Doom Buggies and you are given a haunted tour of the mansion by the famous Ghost Host (voiced by Paul Frees).
From the moment you enter the queue you’re told a story about the ominous house on the hill.
Just know that this attraction might not be suitable for little kids as there are some scary parts of the ride.

Since it’s both a classic dark ride and and a fan-favorite, it has some of the longest lines in the park more often than not.
So, it’s one of the best ride to grab a Genie+ reservation for in the whole park!
2. Space Mountain
As an absolute classic in the Disney parks, Space Mountain will leave a smile on your face every time you ride it.
The ride takes you on a blast through the darkness of space on a rocket that dips, turns, and swoops through the galaxy.
Although the top speed is only 28 miles per hour (mph), it feels like you are moving a lot faster!

Space Mountain is a great pick for your Genie+ reservations because of its long wait times and location.
Like most other rides on the list, it boasts some of the longest waits – and therefore you’ll save the most time by using the Lightning Lane.

So, it’s a good idea to start your day elsewhere in the park, then use your Genie+ reservation later when all rides have longer waits!

The Jungle Cruise is world famous for being world famous, or so they say.
This boat adventure across the rivers of the world is captained by a live skipper who will provide witty commentary of your trip.
It’s a true Disney classic, and offers something for everyone.

It’s a perfect mix of thrill, interesting sights, and speed, and is tame enough for everyone in your family who meets the minimum height requirement (35 inches) to ride.

Though it rarely has astronomical wait times, it practically always has at least a moderately long wait, making it a great pick for Genie+.

5. Princess Fairytale Hall
If your family is visiting with younger kids (especially little girls), a trip to see the princesses might be a high priority.
You can meet one of two princess pairings at the Fairytale Hall, which often includes Cinderella and Elena of Avalor as a pair and Rapunzel and Tiana as a second pair.

6 Easy Tips and Tricks to Get the Most out of Your Genie+ Reservations at the Magic Kingdom
Magic Kingdom has the highest number of attractions of and Disney World Park, so although this list is a great starting point, you may want to swap one or two out for a different attraction!
Here are additional tips and tricks to make sure you make the most of Genie+ during your trip to Magic Kingdom:
- Make your first Genie+ selection at 7 a.m.
- You can add a new selection immediately after using your previous one, or two hours after making it.
- Be sure to use this timing to your advantage! This is incredibly important in Magic Kingdom, since there are always new selections available since there are so many different attractions to experience!
- Other great choices include Peter Pan’s Flight, Pirates of the Caribbean, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, and any Fantasyland ride later in the day.
- If you arrive at park opening, make your first Genie+ reservation at the second land you plan to visit. That way, you can quickly ride one or two attractions first thing while other people are still arriving at the park, then use the Genie+ immediately after to skip more lines!
- Genie+ Lightning Lane reservations work 5 minutes before OR 15 minutes after your selected window of time. Be sure to plan your timing carefully to use this secret to your advantage!
