2026 First-Timer’s Guide to Six Flags Over Georgia: Goliath, Dining Plans, Fast Lane and More!

There is just something about Six Flags Over Georgia that feels like stepping into a classic amusement park dream.

For me, that’s exactly what makes this park so special.

It feels nostalgic. It feels exciting.

Plus, it’s one of those places where I can just breathe, let go, and enjoy the magic of being exactly where I want to be.

You can come here to chase roller coaster credits, cool off in the water park, snack your way through the day, and create the kind of memories that feel cozy and carefree all at once.

And if you’re anything like me, someone who sees theme parks as more than just rides, but as a way to live out your dreams in the most joyful way possible, then Six Flags Over Georgia really can give you that unforgettable first-timer experience.

So, it is my pleasure to give you everything you need to know about this southern amusement park.

What to Expect at Six Flags Over Georgia

When I think of Six Flags Over Georgia, I think of a park that knows exactly what it is.

It is not overly complicated, and that is one of the things I love most about it.

If you are visiting for the first time, I want you to know this: this park is such a fun mix of old-school amusement park charm and bold thrill-seeking energy.

To me, it feels less like a heavily themed resort park and more like a true amusement park experience, which I personally find refreshing.

Sometimes I just want to feel that rush of excitement as I walk toward a big coaster, hear music in the background, and know I have the whole day ahead of me.

That is the energy Six Flags Over Georgia gives me!

Quick Basics

Before I head to any park for the first time, I always like to get the practical things out of the way so I can spend less time feeling overwhelmed and more time soaking in the fun.

It’s me, NikkyJ at Six Flags Over Georgia Amusement Park with The Riddler Mindbender Roller Coaster

I definitely recommend doing the same here.

Location

Six Flags Over Georgia is located in Austell, Georgia, just outside of Atlanta, making it an easy add-on to a larger Atlanta getaway.

And honestly, I love using a park visit as an excuse to turn the whole trip into a full little adventure.

The address is 275 Riverside Pkwy, Austell, GA 30168.

Which makes it about 30 minutes from downtown, depending on the traffic.

Tickets, Add-ons, and the App

The park has daily tickets, season pass options, add-ons like dining plans and Fast Lane, and of course the official app, which I always think is worth downloading before you go.

Having the app on hand just makes the day smoother. Plus, it allows you to view the park map, purchase upgrades, review waittimes, and so much more!

A one day ticket starts at $39 online ($80 at the gate); however, I recommend getting a Season Pass which starts at $65 (at the time of this post).

HIPSTER POWER TIP: Always review the park map BEFORE you go in order to get a good understanding of the Six Flags layout.

Weather

One thing I really have to mention is the weather.

The hot Georgia sun shining over Six Flags Over Georgia Amusement Park Twisted Cyclone Roller Coaster RMC

Georgia heat has a personality of its own. If you are visiting in late spring or summer, just know that it can get hot (mid-90 degrees Fahrenheit), humid, and can drain you faster than you think.

However, the fall evenings bring in the best weather for this area.

I say that lovingly because I want you to be prepared, not miserable. This is one of the reasons I think the water park is such a great bonus here.

On a hot day, being able to pivot into a water park or water ride break can make your whole visit feel better.

Lands

The park has several different areas, and I always like knowing the lands before I visit because it helps me feel grounded once I arrive.

Below are the lands of Six Flags Over Georgia:

  • Bugs Bunny Boomtown
  • Peachtree
  • Gotham City
  • Lickskillet
  • Hurricane Harbor
  • USA
  • Georgia
  • Carousel Hill
  • Metropolis
  • Piedmont
  • DC Super Friends
  • Coastal

So instead of wandering around aimlessly, I go in with a general plan and a sense of familiarity. That alone makes the first visit feel so much less stressful.

Rides

First, let’s talk rides, because this is one of those parks where the roller coasters really are part of the main event.

Six Flags Over Georgia Amusement Park NikkyJ and Goliath Roller Coaster. Keep reading for more tips on planning a trip to Six Flags Over Georgia.
Here I am on my trip to Six Flags Over Georgia Amusement Park and the Goliath Roller Coaster in action

If I were telling a friend exactly what to ride first and why, this is the list I would give them:

Goliath

This is one of the best rides in the park because it gives you that huge, sweeping, high-speed hypercoaster experience that feels both thrilling and unforgettable.

For me, this is the kind of ride that makes a first visit feel official, especially at Six Flags Over Georgia

It is big, bold, a little crazy (haha!), and exactly the sort of coaster moment many first-timers are hoping for.

Six Flags Over Georgia Amusement Park Goliath Roller Coaster and Georgia Scorcher Roller Coaster. Keep reading for more tips on planning a trip to Six Flags Over Georgia.

Although Apollo’s Chariot (Busch Gardens Williamsburg) and Mako (SeaWorld Orlando) are my top hypercoasters, Goliath is one that I always enjoy!

Twisted Cyclone

I love this one because it blends that classic wooden coaster feel with a smoother, more intense modern experience as only a RMC coaster can do.

Six Flags Over Georgia Amusement Park Twisted Cyclone Roller Coaster RMC. Keep reading for more tips on planning a trip to Six Flags Over Georgia.

It has personality and it’s not just fast for the sake of being fast.

It feels punchy, exciting, and full of those moments that catch you off guard in the best way. I just wish that it was a bit longer.

Dare Devil Dive

This is a fun ride for first timers who want something memorable because it delivers a more compact but still very satisfying thrill.

I think it stands out because it feels dramatic without being overwhelming in the same way some giant coasters can be.

The Great American Scream Machine

There is something so comforting and nostalgic about this ride. For me, part of its charm is how it feels tied to the classic amusement park spirit of Six Flags Over Georgia.

And although it can be a bit rough at times, it’s the kind of wooden coaster that reminds you why parks like this have such a strong place in so many of our childhood memories.

Fast Lane VIP Experience

I am a big believer that not every park day needs an upcharge, but I am also a big believer in protecting your peace.

Six Flags Over Georgia Season Pass Fast Lane. Keep reading to find out everything you need to know about visiting Six Flags Over Georgia for the first time.

If you are visiting Six Flags Over Georgia on a busy weekend, holiday, or peak summer day, Fast Lane (which starts at $35) can be one of those upgrades that really changes the whole feel of your visit.

Instead of spending most of your day standing in long lines, getting more tired and overheated, you get to keep moving and enjoy more of what you actually came to do.

For me, that matters.

If this is your one big visit and you want to maximize it, I think Fast Lane is absolutely worth considering.

And if you are someone who likes a more elevated, less stressful experience, then the VIP options may be worth looking into too. Sometimes the best splurge is the one that gives you more ease.

The VIP Tour starts at $400 and comes with:

  • Private Guided Tour
  • Park Admission
  • Preferred Parking
  • Immediate Ride Access
  • Unlimited Attraction Access
  • Unlimited All-Day Dining Per Person (Enjoy one meal or snack of your choice every 90 minutes)
  • All-Day Souvenir Drink Bottle Per Person

There’s also the VIP Express Tour that starts at $300 and comes with:

  • 4 Hour Private Guided Tour
  • Park Admission
  • Preferred Parking
  • Immediate Ride Access
  • Unlimited Attraction Access
  • One Meal and One Snack Per Person
  • All-Day Souvenir Drink Bottle Per Person

Entertainment and Special Events

Beyond the rides, I really think first-timers should make time for the entertainment too.

I know it is easy to overlook shows when you are excited about coasters, but I have learned that shows can add so much fun and entertainment to your park day.

They give you a chance to rest, cool down, and enjoy the atmosphere in a different way. Plus, they make the day feel fuller and less rushed.

Here are a few of my favorite shows at Six Flags Over Georgia:

  • SPLASH! – Spray and Play Pop-Up Party
  • Character Meet-and-Greets
  • Flying High Stilt Walkers
  • Seasonal Fireworks

You also don’t want to miss some of the most amazing amusement park events in the country such as:

  • Season Pass Appreciation Days
  • DC Heroes and Villains Fest
  • Star-Spangled Nights
  • Fright Fest
  • Holiday in the Park

Food

The food is another must-do, especially if you are there all day. I have learned the hard way at parks that if I wait too long to eat, I stop being my happy self and start being hangry (especially if I’m hot too).

Six Flags Over Georgia Amusement Park Firehouse BBQ Restaurant Brisket Sandwich with Mac & Cheese and Cornbread and Sweet Potato Casserole. Keep reading to find out everything you need to know about visiting Six Flags Over Georgia for the first time.
I loved the Firehouse BBQ Restaurant Brisket Sandwich with Mac & Cheese and Cornbread and Sweet Potato Casserole on my trip to Six Flags Over Georgia Amusement Park

So now I try to be intentional about my food breaks, lol!

Six Flags Over Georgia has enough dining options that you do not have to settle for the first random thing you see if you plan a little ahead.

With the new Head Chef, you’re going to love the variety of food there, such as the:

  • Slow-smoked Brisket at Firehouse BBQ
  • Smashed Potatoes at Firehouse BBQ
  • Peach Cobbler at Firehouse BBQ
  • Georgia Peach Melt Sandwich at Georgia Sandwich Co.
  • Smore’s Cookie at Georgia Sandwich Co.
  • Funnel Cake at Hometown Funnel Cakes
  • Burrito Bowl at Macho Nacho
  • Walking Taco at Tostitos Cantina
  • Craft Pink Vodka Lemonade at Along the Rails Tavern

All-Day Dining Plan

If you are spending the whole day at Six Flags Over Georgia, I do think it is smart to look at the dining plan options ahead of time.

Personally, I like knowing what my food game plan is before I arrive because it keeps me from overspending in a chaotic way once I get hungry.

There is a difference between treating yourself and randomly buying everything in sight because you waited too long to eat.

If you are someone who just wants one solid meal and a snack, then a simpler meal deal may be enough.

But if you are like me and know that a full amusement park day usually turns into several snack cravings, hydration breaks, and at least one “you know what, I deserve this” meal moment, then an all-day dining plan can make a lot of sense.

Options and Cost Breakdown:
  • All Day Dining Plan (listed at $32.99) – includes an entrée + side, redeemable every 90 minutes.
  • Premium All Day Dining Plan (listed at $44.99) – includes an entree with a side (or snack) that’s redeemable every 90 minutes with access to the Coca-Cola Fountain Beverages that includes free refills every 15 minutes.
  • All Season Dining Plan (starts at $99) – includes lunch and dinner for every visit in 2026 with a 4-hour interval between meals (2 meals max per day)

I especially think this can be helpful in the Georgia heat because having easier access to meals and drinks can keep your energy up all day.

When I am walking miles in a park, standing in the sun, and hopping from ride to ride, I need more than just vibes to keep going.

Hurricane Harbor Water Fun

And then there is Hurricane Harbor. If it is open during your visit and the weather is warm, I truly think it is worth making time for.

I love when a park lets me have two experiences in one day.

You can spend the morning screaming on coasters and the afternoon cooling off in the water park, which sounds like a dream on a hot summer day to me.

HIPSTER POWER TIP: Don’t forget to check out Six Flags White Water Park, about 35 to 45 minutes north of Six Flags Over Georgia.

Rope Drop

I would get there before opening because I always think the first hour in a park sets the tone for the whole day.

Starting early makes me feel calm, focused, and like I’m in control of my day instead of the day being in control of me.

Morning Time (the big rides!)

I would head straight to one or two top-priority thrill rides first, like Goliath, then spend the late morning exploring more of the park while the energy still feels fresh.

Lunchtime

Around lunch, I would stop and actually sit down for a meal instead of trying to power through.

Six Flags Over Georgia Amusement Park Monster Mansion Water Boat Ride. Keep reading to find out everything you need to know about visiting Six Flags Over Georgia for the first time.

I would also use this time to enjoy shows, low-intensity rides, and indoor attractions such as the fan-favorite Monster Mansion and JUSTICE LEAGUE: Battle for Metropolis.

Water Park Break

After that, if the weather is hot and Hurricane Harbor is open, I would shift into water park mode for a bit to cool off.

Afternoon/Evening

Then later in the afternoon and evening, I would circle back to anything I missed and let myself slow down enough to enjoy the atmosphere.

That kind of pacing feels so much better to me than trying to sprint through everything and never really having time to enjoy it.

Pro Tips for First-Timers

Now I want to give you a few tips and tricks to make your day go smoothly.

1. Start Early

My biggest advice for first-timers is to arrive early and come in with a loose plan.

2. Have a Plan

You do not need a rigid spreadsheet-level strategy, but you do need some sense of what matters most to you.

Six Flags Over Georgia Amusement Park Marthasville Train Depot Railroad. Keep reading to find out everything you need to know about visiting Six Flags Over Georgia for the first time.
Six Flags Over Georgia Amusement Park Marthasville Train Depot Railroad

Is it the biggest coasters? The water park? Getting the best value from your food plan? Feeling like you experienced the park without rushing?

Once you know that, the day becomes so much easier to navigate.

3. Dress for the Weather

I also really recommend dressing for comfort and staying ahead of the weather.

Sky blue Hoka Sneakers and theme park visitors wearing comfortable shoes. Keep reading to find out everything you need to know about visiting Six Flags Over Georgia for the first time.

Comfortable shoes, light clothing, sunscreen, and hydration are not glamorous tips, but they make a huge difference.

Nothing steals the joy from your park day faster than being hot, tired, and unprepared….trust me on this one!

4. Use the hottest, busiest part of the afternoon wisely.

A lot of people just keep pushing through it, but I like to use that time to reset.

That could mean going into Hurricane Harbor, grabbing a meal, watching a show, or simply slowing down for a bit.

5. Know Where to Stay

For where to stay, I think it makes sense to stay somewhere convenient to the park if Six Flags is the main focus of your trip.

But if you are building in extra time, it can also be really fun to make Atlanta part of the experience.

There is something memorable about pairing a big amusement park day with a little city exploration, good food, and a change of pace.

My go-to spot is the Moxy in downtown Atlanta. It’s in the middle of all the ATL action, the vibe is so ThemeParkHipster, and its budget friendly.

Solo Theme Park Traveler Experience

As someone who truly loves a solo theme park day, I have to say that Six Flags Over Georgia can be such a fun park to experience alone.

For me, going solo means freedom.

It means I can follow my mood, ride what I want, skip what I do not, eat when I feel like it, and let the day belong completely to me.

Taking a break at Six Flags Over Georgia Amusement Park and enjoying Along the Rails Tavern with a Graham & Fisk’s Wine in a Can Drink

There is something so peaceful about not having to negotiate every little decision with another person. I can just exist inside the experience and let it unfold naturally.

If you are visiting solo for the first time, I would say keep your bag light, stay aware of your surroundings, take breaks when needed, and trust yourself.

I always want solo travelers, especially women, to feel empowered and safe in these spaces. Theme park solo travel can be such a healing and empowering experience.

There is joy in it, but there is also this quiet sense of confidence that grows when you realize you can create beautiful experiences for yourself.

I think about the freedom of walking through the park knowing the day is mine.

Plus, I love hearing the coasters, feeling the buzz of people around me, and having those quiet little moments where I stop and think, wow, I am really here doing this.
