One of the latest roller coasters to break ground over at Seaworld Orlando is Ice Breaker.
While we are all waiting with anticipation for the next coaster installment at the park, Penguin Trek, let’s take some time to appreciate its older sister.

What is the Ice Breaker Roller Coaster at SeaWorld Orlando?
The Ice Breaker is Florida’s steepest beyond vertical drops. It’s still fairly new and is the park’s very first launch coaster!
And yet, some would consider it a sleeper hit as not much has been spoken about it since its debut.
And in the same breath, those who do mention it sing its praises, especially with its new changes as of late.

History of SeaWorld Orlando’s Ice Breaker Roller Coaster
In September 2019, SeaWorld Orlando revealed the name for their brand new launch roller coaster, Ice Breaker.
Shortly after that in November 2019, SeaWorld Orlando revealed the trains for the roller coaster at the annual IAAPA Expo.
In February 2020, the track work for the ride was completed.
Not many details have come out about the construction process as it was delayed and completed during the pandemic.
Where is Ice Breaker Located in SeaWorld?
The thrilling roller coaster is located in the Sea of Power section of the park, which also plays host to the Orca Encounter show.
Nearby is the indoor animal habitat named Wild Artic which is home to the Pacific Walrus, Harbor Seals and more!
The coaster itself is named after the Icy Artic Summits, fitting for the Sea of Power area.
SeaWorld Ice Breaker Roller Coaster Stats
This Florida roller coaster features four airtime launches going backwards and forwards and has the steepest drop of any roller coaster in Florida with a max vertical angle of 100 degrees.
Ice Breaker also has a 97 degree tall spike. That’s absolutely incredible!
Believe it or not, what allows this coaster to stand out as well is that it’s a family coaster!
Hipster Power Tip: Don’t forget to place your items in the adjacent lockers for a small fee unless you have someone in your party to hold your bag.
Ice Breaker SeaWorld Height Requirements
Recently, the “comfort collars” on the ride were removed during maintenance and the height requirement was returned to 48 inches from its previous 54 inches.

The steel launched coaster made its official debut on February 18, 2022 with the help of its manufacturer, Premier Rides.
SeaWorld’s Ice Breaker Speed and Length
Ice Breaker hits speeds of 52 miles per hour (MPH) along 1,900 feet of track and I assure you from experience that the airtime hills are bananas and exhilarating!
How Tall is the Ice Break Roller Coaster Height at SeaWorld Orlando?
Ice Breaker’s top height is 93 feet and the entire experience lasts a little over a minute. The ride does take Quick Queue if you don’t want to wait in the line!
Alongside the coaster, it has a conservation partnership with the Alaska SeaLife Center.
The center is a dedicated research, rescue, rehabilitation and education facility that will coincide with Icebreaker to help support the center.

My Final Thoughts and Review on the Ice Breaker Roller Coaster at SeaWorld Orlando
Overall, this Orlando roller coaster is a great first step into introducing family-friendly attractions into parks that are known for its thrills.
The Ice Breaker roller coaster ride at SeaWorld doesn’t skimp out on the thrill aspect but makes it fun for everyone who visits!
It’s an excellent addition to the park and continues to easily be a must do when visiting SeaWorld Orlando ahead of the opening of Pipeline.
