There’s a very specific moment at Six Flags Over Georgia when you realize the park you walked into earlier that day is gone.
The sun starts slipping behind the roller coaster tracks. The shadows get a little longer. Fog slowly creeps across the midway.

As someone who LOVES Halloween theme park events, I walked into Fright Fest at Six Flags Over Georgia curious to see how it would compare to some of the bigger haunts I’ve experienced.
And here’s the thing…
You can’t go into Fright Fest expecting Halloween Horror Nights.
You shouldn’t.
Fright Fest has its own personality.
It’s a little rawer. A little more unpredictable. And there’s something delightfully unhinged about riding a massive roller coaster in the dark and then stepping directly into a fog-filled scare zone.
For 2026, Fright Fest presented by SNICKERS runs on weekends from September 12 through November 1 at Six Flags Over Georgia.
So, if this is your first time visiting, grab your courage (and maybe a friend who scares easily) because they’re always the most fun to bring.

What Is Fright Fest at Six Flags Over Georgia?
Fright Fest is the annual Halloween celebration at Six Flags Over Georgia.
During the day, the park offers more family-friendly fall fun with Tricks and Treats. But once dusk settles over the park, the atmosphere changes with scare zones, Halloween entertainment and haunted attractions.
And I have to say, roller coaster parks have one major advantage when it comes to Halloween events.
The coasters.
There’s nothing quite like walking out of a haunted attraction with your adrenaline already elevated and deciding, “You know what I need right now? A roller coaster.”
It’s completely irrational.
Which means I’m obviously going to recommend it.
1. Arrive BEFORE Fright Fest Begins
This is my number one tip.
Do not wait until the nighttime festivities are already underway to arrive.I recommend getting to Six Flags Over Georgia earlier in the day.
Why?
You can knock out a few of the park’s major attractions before the Halloween crowds settle in. For me, that means prioritizing rides such as:
- Goliath
- Twisted Cyclone
- Georgia Scorcher
- Batman: The Ride
- Superman: Ultimate Flight
Then, eat.
Seriously.
Have your meal before the nighttime chaos begins. By the time the fog starts rolling in, I want you ready to focus on the Halloween event and NOT standing in a food line wondering why you didn’t eat two hours ago.
Been there so make sure you learn from me.
2. Understand That Haunted Mazes Cost Extra
This is one of the most important things to know before visiting Fright Fest.
Your regular park admission gets you into Six Flags Over Georgia and allows you to experience the park-wide Fright Fest atmosphere, including the scare zones and nighttime entertainment.
However, the haunted mazes are premium attractions so, you’ll need a Haunted Attractions Pass to enter them.
Please check the current ticket options before your visit because pricing and availability can change.
2026 Six Flags Over Georgia Fright Fest Haunted Houses:
- SAW: Legacy of Terror – Jigsaw fans, this one’s for you! This haunted experience takes you through memorable scenes inspired by the SAW franchise, complete with some of John Kramer’s infamous traps and plenty of moments designed to make you question whether you really want to turn that next corner.
- The Conjuring Universe – Step inside the terrifying cases of Ed and Lorraine Warren as you encounter familiar horrors from The Conjuring universe. You’ll make your way through the Warrens’ occult museum while coming face-to-face with threats inspired by Annabelle, The Nun and the haunted Perron farmhouse.
- NEW! Infestation presented by Snickers – If creepy-crawly things make your skin crawl, I’m already warning you about this one! You’ll enter a condemned home that has been completely overrun by spiders, roaches and mutant vermin. Personally, I don’t know what would have me moving faster…a scare actor or a giant roach. We may find out.
- Camp Slasher presented by M&M’s – Welcome to Camp Rain Burn, where your peaceful little camping trip has gone terribly wrong. You’ll make your way through the trails while trying to escape a vengeful slasher before becoming the next unfortunate camper in his gruesome story.
- Finklestein’s House of Fun presented by Skittles – Don’t let the words “House of Fun” fool you. Freddy Finklestein’s twisted fun house is filled with warped mirrors, sinister clowns and surprises waiting around every corner. If creepy clowns are already your weakness, consider yourself warned.
Is the Haunted Attractions Pass worth it?
If your main reason for visiting is Fright Fest, I think it makes sense.
If you mainly want to ride roller coasters in the dark and experience the scare zones, you may be perfectly happy without it.
Know your priorities before you spend the extra money.

3. Don’t Skip the Scare Zones
Listen…
I love a good haunted house but scare zones are where some of the funniest moments of the night happen.
You’re walking along, you’re talking to your friends… and you think you’re safe.
Then someone appears out of the fog and suddenly you’re breaking into a full sprint even though you haven’t voluntarily run since high school.
Scare zones work because there’s less separation between you and the experience.
You aren’t entering a building and mentally preparing yourself to be scared. The horror simply finds you and that’s what I enjoy about them.
My advice is to slow down when walking through these areas.
Obviously, keep moving and be respectful of other guests, but don’t speed through every scare zone staring at your phone.
The scare zones are where I think Fright Fest gets especially fun because there’s no doorway announcing, Okay, you’re about to be scared now.
You’re simply walking through the park…
And suddenly you’re not alone.
2026 Six Flags Over Georgia Fright Fest Scare Zones and Experiences
- NEW! Disciples of the Beast – Be careful wandering into these woods! A mysterious cult has arrived and is setting traps to capture victims for a sacrifice to THE BEAST. Nothing concerning about that whatsoever….
- NEW! Dreadwell Brothers Carnival of Curiosities – Step inside the strange world of the Dreadwell Brothers, where an eerie carnival filled with creepy curiosities and sinister surprises has taken over. This is one I’d slow down and actually explore instead of racing straight through.
- NEW! Nevermore – Giant raven creatures and other dark horrors are waiting inside Nevermore. The towering creatures should make this one particularly fun visually once the fog and nighttime lighting kick in.
- Rockville’s Festival of Fright – This scare zone takes Halloween back to the 1950s with classic black-and-orange decorations and a retro festival atmosphere. But don’t get too comfortable, the Teenage Hooligans aren’t exactly interested in keeping this neighborhood celebration wholesome.
- The Rotted Ones – You’ll follow a pathway lined with towering cornstalks and flickering lanterns into what appears to be an abandoned farm. And those carved faces hiding among the crops? Let’s just say everything may not be quite as lifeless as it appears.
HIPSTER POWER TIP: Just be sure to watch the performers, notice the costumes, listen to the sounds around you, and let yourself become part of the atmosphere.
2026 Fright Fest Shows and Entertainment
Need a minute where nobody is actively trying to chase you?
This is where the entertainment comes in.
- Dr. Fright’s Deadman’s Party – You’re invited to Dr. Fright’s very unusual gathering where the worlds of the living and dead collide. Expect a theatrical Halloween celebration filled with macabre energy that gives you a fun break between the haunted attractions.
- The Awakening – I LOVE when Halloween events have an official moment when the park essentially announces, Okay everybody, it’s time to be scared! As darkness falls, a horde of creatures emerges from the shadows in this high-energy spectacle that signals the arrival of Fright Fest after dark.
ThemeParkHipster Tip: I would try to catch The Awakening near the beginning of your evening and then head directly toward one of your priority haunted mazes. And remember: Six Flags recommends checking the official app on the day of your visit for the complete entertainment schedule and current showtimes because performances can change.
4. Ride Twisted Cyclone at Night
If you’re a ThemeParkHipster, you already know where I’m going with this.
Night rides (my favorite)!
Twisted Cyclone is already one of my favorite attractions at Six Flags Over Georgia, but roller coasters take on an entirely different personality after dark.
The drops feel different, the speed feels faster, and those moments of airtime somehow become even more ridiculous when you can’t completely anticipate what’s coming next.
If you only have time for a few nighttime coaster rides, put Twisted Cyclone high on your list and then try to get on Goliath.
Which brings me to…
5. You NEED a Night Ride on Goliath
There’s something beautifully chaotic about Goliath during Fright Fest.
You’ve spent the evening walking through fog, hearing screams and dodging scare actors, then you climb aboard one of the park’s biggest roller coasters and disappear into the darkness.
THIS is why I love Halloween events at amusement parks, you aren’t only getting haunted attractions…
You’re getting an entirely different way to experience rides you may already know.
If you’ve ridden Goliath during the day, ride it again at night. Trust me on this one!
6. Have a Haunted House Game Plan
Please don’t randomly bounce between haunted attractions, that’s how you lose an hour walking back and forth across the park.
Before the evening gets busy, check the current haunted attraction lineup and identify your top three priorities.
I recommend dividing them into:
- Must-Do: I am not leaving without experiencing this.
- Would Love to Do: If the wait isn’t ridiculous, I’m going in.
- Bonus: I’ll experience it if time allows.
This little system has saved me during so many Halloween events.

7. Go Earlier in the Fright Fest Season
Want my honest opinion?
October Halloween crowds are built differently, especially as you get closer to Halloween.
If you have flexibility, I recommend visiting in September or earlier in October.
The weather may still be warm (because Georgia clearly didn’t get the memo that it’s supposed to be fall) but you’ll often have a better chance of experiencing more during your night.

8. Dress for a Georgia Fall, Not an Instagram Fall
I know.
You bought the cute Halloween sweatshirt, you have the boots and the outfit is giving pumpkin patch in New England. However, Georgia says, “That’s adorable.” Haha!
Just check the weather before your visit. September and early October can still feel warm, especially when you’re walking through the park.
I recommend comfortable shoes and breathable clothing with a light layer if cooler temperatures are expected later.
Also, remember that Six Flags has event-specific costume policies.
For Fright Fest, guests aren’t permitted to enter wearing costumes, makeup or anything that conceals their identity.
So, wave the full Halloween transformation for another night.
9. Don’t Bring Young Kids to the Nighttime Event Without Researching It First
Fright Fest is not recommended for children under 13 and I think parents should take that seriously because every child is different.
I know some kids who could probably walk through a haunted house while eating Goldfish crackers and asking what we’re doing next.
Meanwhile, some adults are hiding behind their friends (like me, haha!).
No judgment.
I’m “some adults” depending on the house.
For 2026, Six Flags Over Georgia is also offering Tricks and Treats during the day on weekends from September 12 through November 1.
That event includes family-friendly Halloween activities, seasonal treats, entertainment and select rides.
If you’re traveling with younger children, I’d strongly consider enjoying the daytime festivities and leaving before the nighttime scares become the focus.
You can still enjoy the fall atmosphere without creating a core memory that involves a chainsaw.
10. Eat Before the Peak Evening Rush
Halloween event hunger is real.
One minute, you’re fine and the next minute, you’ve walked six miles and suddenly need chicken tenders immediately.
I recommend eating an early dinner before the busiest part of Fright Fest, then, save room for a seasonal snack later.
The exact Halloween food lineup can change each year, so I like to walk around first and see what catches my attention.
If you spot something unique to the event, that’s what I’d choose over a snack you can get during a regular park day.

11. Visiting Fright Fest Solo? DO IT!
Okay, my solo theme park travelers.
Come closer.
You can absolutely do Fright Fest alone.
In fact, Halloween events can be surprisingly fun as a solo traveler because you’re completely in control of your night.
You don’t have to negotiate which haunted maze to visit, you don’t have to convince anyone to ride Goliath, and you definitely don’t have to wait outside a haunted house because your friend suddenly decided, after buying a Halloween event ticket, that they “don’t really like scary stuff.”
Like Sir, Why are we even here?!?
As a solo traveler, I recommend arriving early and getting familiar with the park before dark.
Once Fright Fest begins, move confidently between your priority attractions and if you feel awkward entering a haunted maze alone, don’t.
You’ll usually be surrounded by other guests once you’re inside.
Plus, there’s something strangely empowering about facing a haunted attraction by yourself.
You’ll walk out thinking, “Look at me being brave!” Even if you screamed the entire time.
The scream is irrelevant because you survived!!!
12. Stop Trying to Compare Everything to Halloween Horror Nights
I have to say this. As an Orlando theme park girlie, I understand the temptation.
Halloween Horror Nights has changed the game when it comes to large-scale theme park horror events.
But Fright Fest isn’t HHN and that’s okay.
When I visit Six Flags Over Georgia, I’m not looking for Universal-level movie sets around every corner.
I’m looking for that classic amusement park Halloween energy.
Fog.
Scare actors.
Haunted attractions.
Coasters roaring overhead.
Night rides.
Friends laughing because someone got scared way worse than everyone else.
That’s the charm.
The moment you stop comparing every Halloween event to Universal, you start appreciating what each park does differently.
Let Fright Fest be Fright Fest, okay!
13. Leave Room for the Unexpected
This may be the most ThemeParkHipster advice I can give you.
- Don’t schedule every minute.
- Yes, have a plan and know your must-do haunted attractions.
- Prioritize your night rides.
- But leave space.
- Find a scare zone you love and want to walk through again.
- Stop for a snack and possibly end up having one of those random theme park conversations with another enthusiast that makes your night.
I’ve learned over the years that I can give you the perfect itinerary, but sometimes the best part of your trip will be something neither of us could have planned.

My Perfect Fright Fest One-Day Itinerary
If this were my first visit, here’s exactly how I’d plan my day:
- 2:00 p.m. – Arrive at Six Flags Over Georgia: Get through security, enter the park and settle into your day.
- 2:30 p.m. – Ride Twisted Cyclone: Start strong!
- 3:00 p.m. – Experience the Major Coasters: Focus on Goliath, Georgia Scorcher and your other daytime priorities.

Twisted Cyclone looks especially dramatic after dark, and I love capturing the contrast between the coaster structure and the nighttime Fright Fest atmosphere.
One Bite I Still Think About
For Fright Fest, I’m always looking for the seasonal treat.
Give me something ridiculous, covered in Halloween sprinkles,an over-the-top cocktail, and something I would never order on a normal Tuesday.
That’s part of the fun!
Check the current seasonal food offerings when you arrive and choose at least one item that’s unique to Fright Fest.
Calories consumed while being chased by monsters don’t count.

- I’d tell you to arrive early.
