Is Margaritaville at Universal CityWalk Orlando Worth It? My Honest Review + What to Order
If you’ve ever walked through Universal CityWalk after a long day in the parks, you’ve probably noticed one restaurant that always seems to have a crowd.
The music spills out onto the walkway.
Palm trees sway overhead.
People are laughing over giant drinks while live music fills the air.
That’s the magic of Margaritaville at Universal CityWalk Orlando.
Inspired by the laid-back lifestyle of the late Jimmy Buffett, this isn’t just another tourist restaurant.
It’s designed to make you feel like you’ve escaped to a tropical island, even if you’re only a few steps from Universal Studios Florida.
During one of my visits, I found myself lingering longer than I expected.
After miles of walking through the parks, it was exactly the kind of place where I wanted to slow down, enjoy a decent meal, and simply soak up the atmosphere.
If you’re wondering whether Margaritaville deserves a spot on your Universal Orlando itinerary, here’s everything you need to know before you go.

The ThemeParkHipster Promise
You already know I won’t recommend a restaurant just because it’s popular.
I’ll tell you where I think it shines, where it falls short, and whether I’d spend my own vacation dollars here again.
Because vacation meals are part of the experience, not just a place to refuel.

What to Expect
The moment you walk inside, it feels like you’ve left Orlando behind.
Bright colors, nautical décor, surfboards, tropical plants, and island-inspired artwork create an atmosphere that’s cheerful without feeling overdone.

One thing I appreciate is that the restaurant never seems to take itself too seriously as it invites you to relax.
What to Order
One thing I like about the menu is that almost everyone can find something they’ll enjoy.
Some of my top recommendations include:
- Volcano Nachos: If you’re dining with friends or family, these are perfect for sharing. They’re piled high with layers of chips, cheese, seasoned meat, pico de gallo, sour cream, and fresh toppings.
- Cheeseburger in Paradise: It’s the restaurant’s signature burger for a reason. Juicy, satisfying, and exactly the kind of comfort food many people crave after a full day at Universal.
- Jerk Salmon: If you’re looking for something a little lighter, this is a flavorful option that still fits the island theme beautifully.
- Key Lime Pie: Don’t skip dessert. It’s tart, creamy, refreshing, and one of my favorite ways to end the meal.
- Perfect Margarita: The name says everything about this delicious adult beverage. It’s one of my favorite drinks at Universal Orlando.
Dining Tips
A few things I’ve learned after multiple visits:
- Try eating before the evening rush if your schedule allows.
- If live music is playing, give yourself extra time. You may end up wanting to stay longer than planned.
- Ask for a seat on the patio if you’d like to enjoy the live music and people watching.
- Don’t feel pressured to order one of the giant specialty drinks if that’s not your thing.
- If you’re visiting during the holidays, CityWalk is especially beautiful after sunset, making dinner here feel even more festive.
My Honest Review
For me, Margaritaville isn’t necessarily about having the most gourmet meal at Universal Orlando.

The food is decent, the drinks are amazing, the service has been friendly, and the atmosphere is what keeps bringing people back.
Would I eat here every trip?
Probably not.
Universal Orlando has so many outstanding dining options that I love trying something different each visit.
But if I’m introducing someone to CityWalk for the first time and want a great drink with a fun atmosphere, Margaritaville is almost always on my shortlist because it’s such an iconic part of the Universal experience.
