The Ultimate SCarowinds Guide (2026): 13 Scary Good Tips for First-Timers

Planning a trip to SCarowinds for the first time?

You’re in the right place! The first time I walked into Carowinds, I fell in love with the park.

I loved the landscaping and how the different areas flowed naturally into one another,

And, of course, I loved looking up and seeing massive roller coasters twisting above me while I quietly questioned every life decision that led me to becoming a coaster enthusiast.

Then nighttime arrived, the fog rolled in, and the screams started…

Welcome to SCarowinds, ThemeParkHipster!

As a Halloween theme park event lover, there’s something about experiencing a park for the first time during haunt season that makes the entire visit feel a little more special.

During the day, I was learning Carowinds.

At night? I was trying to survive it!

For 2026, SCarowinds returns on select nights from September 11 through November 1 with scare zones, haunted experiences, live entertainment, and some of Carowinds’ incredible roller coasters waiting for you after dark.

And let me tell you…

If Fury 325 intimidates you during the daytime, seeing that lift hill disappear into the darkness is a completely different conversation.

So grab your comfortable shoes, your bravest friend, and maybe a little courage. I’m walking you through everything you need to know before your first SCarowinds visit!

Six Flags Over Georgia Amusement Park Fright Fest Halloween Skeletons with Goliath coaster in the background

The Ultimate Fright Fest at Six Flags Over Georgia Guide (2026): 13 Scary Good Tips for First-Timers

2026 Guide to Fright Fest at Six Flags Over Georgia: Haunted Houses, Scare Zones, Tips and More

There’s a very specific moment at Six Flags Over Georgia when you realize the park you walked into earlier that day is gone.

The sun starts slipping behind the roller coaster tracks. The shadows get a little longer. Fog slowly creeps across the midway.

Welcome to Fright Fest, Hipster!

As someone who LOVES Halloween theme park events, I walked into Fright Fest at Six Flags Over Georgia curious to see how it would compare to some of the bigger haunts I’ve experienced.

And here’s the thing…

You can’t go into Fright Fest expecting Halloween Horror Nights.

You shouldn’t.

Fright Fest has its own personality.

It’s a little rawer. A little more unpredictable. And there’s something delightfully unhinged about riding a massive roller coaster in the dark and then stepping directly into a fog-filled scare zone.

For 2026, Fright Fest presented by SNICKERS runs on weekends from September 12 through November 1 at Six Flags Over Georgia.

So, if this is your first time visiting, grab your courage (and maybe a friend who scares easily) because they’re always the most fun to bring.

I’m walking you through everything you need to know before you go!

2026 Halloween Horror Nights Tips and Survival Guide!

You poor unfortunate soul. Do you dare to venture out to this year’s Halloween Horror Nights?

If so, you are in for more than ghostly encounters.

Halloween Horror Nights is back for its 35th anniversary at Universal Studios Florida, running on select nights from August 28 through November 1, 2026.

That’s over two whole months!

This year’s event transforms the park into the Infernal Carnival of Nightmares, with Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow taking center stage as the twisted ringmasters of HHN 35.

This year’s haunted house lineup includes Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control, Sinners, Stranger Things 5, Hellraiser, Evil Dead Burn, Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness, H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: A Halloween Fright-Tacular!, MADLANDS: Caged Cannibals, Cybergoria, and INVASION: Alien Abduction.

The scare zones include Infernal Carnival of Nightmares, Sideshow of Decay, FORTNITEMARES, and Downtown Clowntown.

The entertainment lineup includes Nightmare Fuel: Blood Noir and Stranger Things: Return to Hawkins, giving you another reason to pace yourself between houses, food booths, scare zones, and all that glorious fog-filled chaos.

I’ve been a huge fan of Halloween Horror Nights for over 20 years with my very first visit taking place in 2005.

So, it is my honor to give you all of the little tips and tricks I’ve learned over the past two decades.

But first, I want to give you a few things that are new for 2026.
