Show Your Dark Side in the STAR WARS Half Marathon

For all of my Dark Side Hipsters, the Star Wars Half Marathon is coming to the Walt Disney World Resort April 14-17, 2016. This new Star Wars race will be an intergalactic experience with kids’ races, a 5K and a 10K in addition to the half marathon.

star wars marathonAccording to Disney Parks Blog, this race will feature a unique 13.1-mile course that propels runners through Epcot, Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios and finishes at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

New Disney Merchandise to Celebrate the Fourth of July

The newest retail MagicBand coming from the Disney merchandise team, features a patriotic Mickey Mouse standing in front of an American flag. This limited release item costs $24.95 and can be found in select merchandise locations throughout the Walt Disney World Resort.

There is also a new Fourth of July limited edition pin with Carl and Ellie from Disney-Pixar’s “Up.” This pin has an edition size of 3,500 and will be released at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts, as well as a new open edition Minnie Mouse bow decorated in red, white and blue.

Jedi Knight and TIE-Fighter Pilot D-Tech Me Coming to Star Wars Weekends

The 2015 Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is about to get an amazingly, new collectible addition (and you can say experience). Two new D-Tech Me figurines – a Jedi Knight and a TIE-Fighter pilot will premier during the special event.

Star Wars – D-Tech Me is a 10-minute experience that uses the world’s highest-resolution, single-shot 3D face scanner which is  later sent to a high resolution 3D printer to create the figurine. You can find this new experience inside Darth’s Mall, near Streets of America across from Studio Catering Company.

Tomorrowland Preview Coming to Epcot

An exclusive sneak preview of Disney’s Tomorrowland is coming to Disneyland and the Walt Disney World Resort. The film tells the tale of a jaded scientist and an optimistic teen who embark on a danger-filled mission together to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in both time and space. Starting mid-April, the preview of the film will be presented at Epcot in the Imagination theatre complete with special in-theater effects.

Frozen Fever Continues with New Treats

If you’ve been in the Walt Disney World Parks this past weekend, then you’d have noticed the many spring sweet treats placed in multiple locations across the property. The Disney Parks Food and Beverage team has now created new treats inspired by the “Frozen Fever” short.

Treats such as, Anna’s Happy Birthday Cupcake, will be available at select quick-service locations at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. This vanilla cupcake has an icy blue butter-cream frosting, marshmallows and snowflake candies, topped with a white chocolate Olaf. The Frozen inspired goodies will be available April 8th.

New Animal Carvings Debut on the Tree of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

New carvings on the Tree of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom have been revealed! This majestic masterpiece debut bold, outstretched roots of the new animal carvings. Each carving was done with the most elaborate attention to detail as expected from the Imagineers of Disney.

Disney guests will be able to note the tiniest of insects to the powerful sculptures of the giant crocodiles, giving guests the ability to take photos up close and will help with guest flow.

New Details Released about Disney’s Trader Sam’s

New details have been released about Trader Sam’s debuting at Disney’s Polynesian Village.

Here is a sneak peek of some of the new beverages coming to Trader Sam‘s Grog Grotto. Trader Sam will debut new handcrafted cocktails made with fresh, authentic premium ingredients in souvenir cups. Guests will Indulge in the hidden treasures of the Polynesian Pearl, go for a wicky-wacky adventure in Waikiki, and dive deep with the Nautilus.

Happy Holidays Hipsters!

There’s nothing like the holiday season. Rather it’s sitting cozily next to a fireplace with family or feeling the spirit of Christmas while walking around the Walt Disney World onsite hotels. Although I love both activities, I think you’d probably guess that the latter has become my new holiday tradition. A few years ago I discovered this new way of enjoying a free Christmas at Disney World. When I’d set out to do a post to help my fellow ThemeParkHipsters save on theme park holiday fun, I had no idea I’d discover how wonderful AND free a Disney holiday experience could be.

Goodbye Maelstrom

In case you are not aware the last boat ride of Maelstrom into the wintery mysteries of Norway will take place this Sunday, October 5, 2014. The announcement came as a shocker to most Epcot fans; however, the rumor of its Frozen-themed replacement surfaced on the Internet a few months ago and I can admit that I did not believe it. I swore my friends up and down that there was absolutely NO WAY Disney would close such a classic and replace it with, what I felt was, a temporary cultural fad.

But as I continued to think about it, I realized that Maelstrom was no different from Horizons, World of Motions, or even El Rio Del Tiempo.
